Sadhguru presented Padma Vibhushan award

RENOWNED Indian spiritual leader Sadhguru was presented the Padma Vibhushan, one of the highest civilian honours bestowed by the country's government on accomplished citizens.

In a ceremony in New Delhi, the mystic and bestselling author collected the award from India's president Pranab Mukherjee, at his official residence, Rashtrapati Bhawan today (13).

Earlier this year, Sadhguru paid tribute to the work of more than seven million volunteers involved with the Isha foundation, which he set up.

In a statement, he said: “I congratulate the Government of India for recognising the unique offering of our volunteers, a spectacular demonstration of selflessness and commitment to the larger well-being of humanity.”

The volunteers work on inner well-being and also large-scale projects in education, health and ecology.

"I bow to all of you as this is your award. May this be a further inspiration for all," he said.

Sadhguru is collaborating with the government of India on a new river policy, designed to rejuvenate the country’s depleting waterways.

ISKCON London has successfully reacquired 7 Bury Place, the original site of its first UK temple, at auction for £1.6 m marking what leaders call a "full-circle moment" for the Krishna consciousness movement in Britain.

The 221 square metre freehold five-storey building near the British Museum, currently let to a dental practice, offices and a therapist, was purchased using ISKCON funds and supporter donations. The organisation had been searching for properties during its expansion when the historically significant site became available.

The building holds deep spiritual importance as ISKCON's UK birthplace. In 1968, founder A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada sent three American couples to establish a base in England. The six devotees initially struggled in London's cold, using a Covent Garden warehouse as a temporary temple.
