THE HOLLYWOOD-INSPIRED HINDI MOVIES TO LOOK OUT FOR

BOLLYWOOD goes through different phases and right now we are firmly in the age of remakes.

The biggest hit of 2019, Kabir Singh was a remake of Telugu drama Arjun Reddy and it is one of the many Hindi films that have been inspired by South Indian films. There are many more such high-profile ones on the way, including Bollywood remakes of Telugu films Arundhati, Jersey and RX100.

Outside of the usual South Indian reboots on the way like Akshay Kumar-starrer Laxmmi Bomb, which is a remake of Tamil horror comedy Muni 2: Kanchana, there are also new versions of classic Bollywood films. These include remakes of Coolie No. 1, Satte Pe Satta and Pati Patni Aur Woh on the way featuring popular stars in lead roles.

Meanwhile, Sonam Kapoor recently signed up to star in a Bollywood remake of 2011 South Korean thriller Blind. But most interestingly, there are a growing number of official remakes of popular Hollywood films, instead of like in the past when Bollywood producers stole ideas from the west without asking permission.

Here are some Hollywood films that will be officially remade to look out for.

Forrest Gump: The most high-profile remake sees Aamir Khan take on the role originally played by Tom Hanks in the Oscar-winning 1994 original. The film titled Laal Singh Chaddha revolves around a slow-witted but kind-hearted man who unwittingly influences several defining historical events.

Rambo: Tiger Shroff will star in the movie based on the successful Sylvester Stallone action franchise, which started with First Blood in 1982 and successful sequels including 1985 film Rambo, about a mentally-scarred soldier who is also a lethal killing machine.

Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2: Plans are underway for a remake of Quentin Tarantino’s two Kill Bill movies, which released in 2003 and 2004, where a deadly female assassin goes on a revenge mission.

The Fault In Our Stars: The troubled Bollywood remake of the 2014 drama was titled Kizie and Manny before it was changed to Dil Bechara. Based on a popular novel, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi play the lead roles in a story about two cancer patients finding love.

Red: Anil Kapoor reportedly has the remake rights of the 2010 action-comedy, which had a star-studded cast led by Bruce Willis and revolved around elderly secret agents coming together to defend themselves from a deadly attack.

The Girl On The Train: Parineeti Chopra takes on the role originally portrayed by Emily Blunt in the 2016 mystery thriller, about an alcoholic divorcee, embroiled in a missing person’s investigation.

Transporter: There are strong rumours that John Abraham is in talks to star in the remake of the 2002 action film starring Jason Statham, which revolves around a highly-skilled driver who will transport anything, but gets embroiled in a conspiracy.

Begin Again: Veere Di Wedding director Shashanka Ghosh is developing an Indian remake of Hollywood drama Begin Again, which is a 2013 musical comedy-drama film, starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo.
