Ranveer Singh in consideration for the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw

Ranveer Singh has some amazing projects in his pocket right now. His much-awaited film Simmba hit the marquee today and registered a rousing response. He will next be seen in the Zoya Akhtar-directed Gully Boy, which is set to release on 14th February, 2019.

Right after the release of Gully Boy, Singh will start shooting for Kabir Khan’s 83 wherein he plays legendary cricketer Kapil Dev. His period drama Takht, to be directed by Karan Johar, will also mount the shooting floor around the same time.

The latest we hear that Ranveer is set to add yet another interesting project to his bouquet. Buzz has it that he is being considered to star in Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw’s biopic, which will be directed Meghna Gulzar.

“Ranveer is the right fit for playing Field Marshal Manekshaw.  But he will have to curb his natural exuberance for a bit. As gravity is a must for this role. General Manekshaw is a national hero, revered and iconized. The film can’t afford to go wrong,” said a source.

Meghna Gulzar is presently busy preparing for her next Chhapaak, which stars Singh’s wife Deepika Padukone in the lead role. The film will start rolling in the first quarter of 2019, which means the Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw biopic will take some time to begin production.

An official announcement is awaited.
