Niraj Chag has been honoured with the Award for Music (Contemporary) at the prestigious Eastern Eye Art, Culture and Theatre Awards (ACTAs) 2025. Recognised for his exceptional talent and innovative fusion of Indian classical music with contemporary genres, Niraj’s award-winning work stands out for its emotional depth and global appeal. His compositions, spanning albums, film, television, theatre, and live events, have captivated audiences worldwide, making him a leading figure in contemporary music composition.

Based in London, Niraj Chag is a self-taught composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist who began his musical journey at the age of 11. Over the years, he has developed a unique sound that seamlessly blends traditional Indian influences with modern styles, creating richly textured soundscapes that resonate across cultures. His groundbreaking approach to music production has earned him wide recognition and acclaim in the industry.


Niraj’s work extends to a diverse array of television and film projects seen globally. His credits include scores for notable productions such as One Night in Bhopal (BBC1), the BAFTA and Emmy-winning Simon Schama’s The Power of Art (BBC Worldwide), The Age of Terror (BBC2), Andrew Marr’s Darwin's Dangerous Idea (BBC2), Sex and the City (HBO), Origins of Us (BBC2), The Rise of the Continents (Discovery Channel), All in Good Time (Studio Canal), and Our Girl (BBC1).

His talents are equally celebrated in theatre, where he has scored acclaimed productions like Wah! Wah! Girls (Sadler’s Wells), Frankie Goes To Bollywood (Rifco Theatre), the Olivier Award-winning Rafta Rafta (National Theatre), Much Ado About Nothing (RSC), Dara (National Theatre), Captive Queen (Shakespeare’s Globe), and The Ramayana (Radio 4). Niraj received a What’s On Stage Award nomination for his work on Buddha of Suburbia (RSC), further cementing his reputation in the theatrical world.

Beyond theatre and screen, Niraj has composed music for over 30 dance productions, including the high-profile Diwali celebrations at The White House in 2022, showcasing his versatility and global reach as a composer.
