Minister asks US entrepreneurs to mentor start-ups in India

India's Information Technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday (28) urged entrepreneurs based in Silicon Valley to mentor start-ups from India and to collaborate in areas such as artificial intelligence and data analytics.

"He also sought their active cooperation in the field of growing technologies such as artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity, and urged them to take India to a new level of growth by leveraging these technologies," an official release said.

Prasad interacted with prominent achievers such as Vinod Dham of Pentium chip fame and Professor Thomas Kailath of Stanford University, the release said.

India is a preferred destination for tech investment due to the large number of skilled IT professionals in the country. The subcontinent is also the third largest start-up ecosystem in the world after the US and the UK.

"Due to initiatives like Digital India and Make In India, the production of electronics goods in India in the last four years has witnessed tremendous growth," the statement noted.
