Khanzaadi: ‘My struggle inspires me’

THERE is no denying that Khanzaadi is currently one of the most exciting talents on the Indian music scene.

The singer, rapper, songwriter and musician, real name Firoza Khan, has made a huge impact in a short space of time with top tracks like Azaadi.


Having appeared on popular reality TV shows Hustle 2.0 (MTV) and Bigg Boss 17, the fabulously fearless artist has delivered hit songs, done cool collaborations and set fashion goals as a social media influencer, with over a million followers on Instagram.

Eastern Eye caught the star on a rapid rise, to find out more about her.

What first connected you to music?

Music has always been in my heart. When I fell sick and was bedridden for years, I decided to pursue a career as a rapper/singer since I wasn’t physically fit for other jobs.

How do you reflect on your music journey so far?

My music journey has been incredible. It opened doors for me, leading to opportunities like MTV Hustle 2.0 and Bigg Boss 17.

Which of your songs has been closest to your heart?

It is hard to choose, but there are many songs close to my heart. Would you agree that you are fearless? No, I pretend to be fearless. You become what you think, so I am working on it. You are a versatile artist, but what type of music do you most enjoy creating? I enjoy creating pop, hip-hop, r’n’b, and jazz music the most.

What do you most like about hip hop?

What I love about hip hop is that I can express my emotions boldly without boundaries.

Who have been your greatest musical influences?

Eminem, AR Rahman, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift have been my greatest musical influences.

How much does live performance mean to you and what has been your most memorable show?

Live performances are incredibly important to me as they allow me to entertain and uplift people. Opening a stage for rapper Divine was one of my most memorable shows.

What music dominates your own personal playlist?

My personal playlist varies depending on my mood and the environment.

 What made you want to participate on reality TV show Bigg Boss 17?

Initially, I declined participating, but I agreed because my team insisted. I believe I was honest and real on Bigg Boss 17, and the audience knows best.

How do you also feel about becoming a social media influencer?

Becoming a social media influencer has helped me promote brands and songs, leading to greater independence and success compared to before Bigg Boss.

What is the music master plan going forward?

My music master plan includes becoming the best rapper and singer, having all my songs be super hits, getting numerous shows, travelling, performing, shooting the best music videos, winning awards, and more.

Who would you like to collaborate with?

There are many on my list, but I wish to collaborate with Divine, King, and Anup Jain.

Is acting something that you are drawn towards?

Yes, I’ve always been a drama enthusiast, so I would love to pursue acting alongside music.

 What inspires you as an artist?

My struggle inspires me to never give up and enjoy the process of writing songs and making music. Acceptance from my fans has also helped me become a better version of myself, and they are my support system.

Actor and television personality Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame with the early 2000s music video Kaanta Laga, has died following a sudden cardiac arrest. The 42-year-old was declared dead at Bellevue Hospital in Mumbai late on Friday night, 28 June. Her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, reportedly rushed her to the hospital around midnight with the help of close friends.

Despite immediate medical attention, doctors could not revive her. A hospital source confirmed she was “dead on arrival” at 11:27 pm. Her death has left friends, fans, and colleagues in shock, as many described her as healthy, cheerful, and actively working.
