Kabir Singh movie review: Sandeep Reddy Vanga successfully recreates the magic of Arjun Reddy

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh will be hitting the screens tomorrow. The film is a remake of Telugu movie Arjun Reddy and it is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who had also helmed the original one. So does Sandeep once again impress us with his narration? The answer is a big YES.

The movie is about a guy named Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) who is studying in a medical college in Delhi. He falls in love with a girl named Preeti (Kiara Advani) who is junior to him in the college. Love blossoms between them but when they decide to get married, things don't go as planned and they are separated. Because of this Kabir becomes an alcoholic. Will Kabir and Preeti ever meet again? Will it be a happy ending or a sad ending of their love story? Well, if you have seen Arjun Reddy, you will know the answer, but if you haven’t, watch Kabir Singh to know the answer.

Before moving forward, I would like to clarify that I have seen Arjun Reddy and Sandeep Reddy Vanga had wonderfully narrated the story there. In Kabir Singh also his direction is perfect and he successfully makes us feel all the emotions the characters are going through. The movie is of nearly three hours but doesn't bore you at all.

However, we cannot ignore that the screenplay is very similar to Arjun Reddy and here story wise the film doesn't have anything new. Also, the editing could have been better because there are a few sudden jumps that take place in the film. As I have seen Arjun Reddy, I can say that there are a couple of important scenes from the film that are edited out from Kabir Singh.

Shahid Kapoor has given a very good performance. His lover-boy avatar will make all his female fans go weak in their knees. Kiara Advani in the first half is good and impresses us in the pre-interval sequences. But unfortunately, she fails to make an impact in the climax. The climax of the film is gifted to the lead actress and in Arjun Reddy, Shalini had done a fantastic job in it. Arjan Bajwa is amazing in his role and even Nikita Dutta leaves a mark. Soham Majumdar as Kabir Singh's best friend Shiva is simply outstanding. Veteran actors Suresh Oberoi and Kamini Kaushal are good in their parts.

Talking about the music, Kabir Singh has decent songs, but it’s the background score that will stay with you once you leave the theatres.

Overall, Kabir Singh is a good entertaining love story and it's a treat for Shahid Kapoor's fans.
