Imtiaz Ali & Ekta Kapoor's Laila Majnu to release on 4th May

Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali have united to bring the modern version of epic folklore Laila Majnu on celluloid. The film, titled Laila Majnu will launch a set a debutant actors in the industry. It is slated to release on 4th May 2018.

Ekta Kapoor, who is also one of the biggest names in Indian television space, known for producing a string of iconic shows, announced the association along with the release date of the movie on her Twitter handle.


Sharing a photo of herself along with filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, excited Ekta wrote on the Twitter, “Excited to recreate the epic love story, Laila Majnu with master storyteller Imtiaz Ali. Balaji Motion Picture, Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu. Laila Majnu on May 4."

The film is being bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor's production house, Balaji Motion Pictures. Her production house also shared a tweet. “Some love stories never die... They get retold by passionate storytellers. Presenting the teaser poster of Ekta Kapoor and Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu. Releasing on May 4."

Directed by Imtiaz Ali's younger brother, Sajid Ali, Laila Majnu is co-produced by Imtiaz's ex-wife Preety Ali along with Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.

Clooney speaks out

George Clooney has voiced support for actors Paul Dano, Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard after they were harshly criticised by Quentin Tarantino last month.

Speaking at AARP’s Movies for Grownups awards on 10 January, Clooney said he would be “honoured” to work with all three. He added that he does not enjoy seeing people treated cruelly.
