I really believe a lot in destiny, says Shahid Kapoor

There is no denying the fact that the massive success of Kabir Singh (2019) has brought Shahid Kapoor back in the reckoning. Made on a moderate budget, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial went on to smash a string of records and raked in over ₹280 at the domestic box-office, becoming one of the highest-grossing movies of the year.

Basking in the huge success of the film, Shahid Kapoor says that he believes a lot in destiny. “You know, I really believe a lot in destiny. A number of people have told me, ‘Oh, you have waited 15 years for a hit this size’, but maybe, if I had not waited for so long, I would not truly appreciate and respect it. Honestly, I feel failures make you a man. Even boys can do well when success is under their feet but when that carpet of success gets pulled away, only the men can stand up and survive. The boys get knocked out,” says Kapoor.

The Haider (2014) actor goes on to add that all the failures that he has seen over the years have made him who he is today. “I feel all the failures that I have seen have made me who I am today. So, honestly, I am very thankful for the fact that though it took so long, such a big success came my way because I know that it may well have never happened to me,” Shahid says.

Shahid Kapoor will next be seen in the Hindi remake of the hit Telugu film Jersey (2019). The Hindi version will be helmed by Gowtham Tinnanauri, who also called the shots for the original movie. To be produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju, the remake is scheduled to roll into theatres on August 28, 2020.
