From Laxmmi Bomb to Laal Singh Chaddha, 2020 is filled with a lot of remakes

Bollywood filmmakers love remakes. Every year we have many Hindi films that are a remake of a South film or a Hollywood flick or a Korean movie. In 2019, we saw remakes like Bharat, Kabir Singh, Badla, Notebook, Pati Patni Aur Woh and others.

Well, continuing the trend of remakes, Bollywood is all set to offer us many remakes in 2020 as well. So, let’s look at the list of remakes we will get to watch on the big screen this year…

Jawaani Jaaneman

We all have loved the trailer of Saif Ali Khan, Alaya F, and Tabu starrer Jawaani Jaaneman. But we are sure not many of you know that it is a remake of a South American film. Well, the makers are in no mood to reveal the name of the original film, but yes, it’s a remake.

Baaghi 3

Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani starrer Baaghi 2 was a remake of Telugu film Kshanam, and now even Baaghi 3 is a remake of a South film. The Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is a remake of Tamil film Vettai.

Coolie No. 1

David Dhawan’s 1995 directorial Coolie No. 1 is one of the best comedy films made in Bollywood. Now, after 25 years, David Dhawan is remaking the film casting his son Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s chemistry and dance numbers were the highlights of the film, we hope that Varun and Sara don’t ruin the original film.

Dil Bechara

Dil Bechara starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi has been in the pipeline for quite some time. The movie is a remake of Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars and was slated to release in 2019. But it has been postponed multiple times and finally, it is slated to release in May this year.

The Girl On The Train

Parineeti Chopra will be stepping into the shoes Emily Blunt for the Hindi remake of The Girl On The Train. Emily’s performance was one of the major highlights of the film and we hope that Parineeti performs equally well in the remake.

Laxmmi Bomb

Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb is a remake of Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. The movie is being directed by Raghava Lawrence who had directed and even starred in the original film. The first look of Akshay Kumar from the film has been released and it has received a good response.

Jersey

Last year, Shahid Kapoor starred in Kabir Singh, a remake of Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. This year, once again we will get to see Shahid in a remake of a Telugu film titled Jersey. The Hindi remake also stars Mrunal Thakur and Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapur in the lead role.

Laal Singh Chaddha

Aamir Khan will be stepping into the shoes of Tom Hanks for the remake of Hollywood film Forrest Gump. The remake has been titled as Laal Singh Chaddha, and it also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role. The film will be releasing on Christmas 2020.

Bachchan Pandey

In 2020, Akshay will be seen in two remakes. After Laxmmi Bomb, he will be seen in Bachchan Pandey which is a remake of Tamil film Veeram. Also starring Kriti Sanon, Bachchan Pandey is slated to release on Christmas 2020 as well.

Durgavati

Anushka Shetty starrer Bhaagamathie is also being remade in Hindi. Titled Durgavati, the film stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role and it is being presented by Akshay Kumar. With an actress like Bhumi leading the cast, we surely have high expectations from the remake.
