Fire breaks out inside Air India office at Bangladesh airport

Fire has broken out at the main building of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. Later it was notice that the fire broke out at the Air India Office in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. 

The fire broke out on the second floor of the building around 1:37pm on Friday. 


Fire Service headquarters duty officer Polash Chandra Modok confirmed the matter . He said 10 firefighting units are working to douse the blaze. 

Polash said: “The reason behind the fire is yet to be confirmed. No casualty has been reported yet.” 

APBN Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Aftab Uddin said: “Some hajj pilgrims are inside the airport. Some flights might be delayed or cancelled due the incident.” 

Wishing anonymity, an official of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) the Dhaka Tribune the fire might have originated from electric short circuit. 

Some airlines offices are situated on the floor where the fire broke out. 

Officials of APBn, police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) are evacuating the building and trying to control the law order situations in the airport area.

Lifetime cost of migrant partners estimated at £5.6 billion: Report

MIGRANTS who move to Britain to join their partners are projected to cost the UK economy £5.6 billion over their lifetimes, according to an analysis by the Migration Advisory Committee.

The committee said 51,000 people entered the UK in 2022–23 under partner visas, which allow individuals to live and work in the country. More than half were unemployed. The analysis estimated that each individual would have a net fiscal cost of £109,000 over their lifetime at current values.
