Emraan Hashmi: I don't want to be part of a sequel just for the sake of it!

For long, sequels of successful films have been a safe bet for actors who fail to taste success otherwise. There are many actors in the industry whose career thrived on sequels. Here we aren't underestimating the towering talent that Emraan Hashmi is, but we can't also ignore the fact that some of the biggest hits of his career have been the sequels of some immensely popular franchises. But now it seems the actor has had enough of sequels. He does not even want to star in any Raaz sequel anymore.

"Raaz is a closed chapter. I don't want to do another one in that series," he says. It is really surprising that the actor doesn't want to do any Raaz film considering the franchise has given him some of the most successful films of his career. "I don't want to be part of a sequel just for the sake of it,” he adds.


Raaz is considered to be one of the most successful film franchises of Bollywood and Emraan has been part of the second, third and fourth instalment of the film. While Raaz 2 and Raaz 3 were box office hits, Raaz Reboot, the fourth instalment in the series, failed to live up to the expectations and turned out to be the weakest part of the series.

Emraan further says that franchises no longer guarantee success at the box office. "For many actors, sequels or franchise films are like a safety net. But recently, we had many examples of sequels that haven't worked. Making sequels is becoming tricky, as the audience has become intelligent and will watch it only if it interests them."

Meanwhile, Emraan is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film Baadshaho, which also stars Ajay Devgn, Vidyut Jamwal and Ileana D’Cruz. The film is releasing on 1st September.

Netflix has struck a £55 billion (₹5.97 trillion) deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. The agreement gives the streaming giant control over HBO, HBO Max, and Warner Bros.’ film and TV studios. It also brings a huge catalogue of shows and films, from Game of Thrones to Harry Potter and the DC Universe. The move marks a major expansion for Netflix, which has largely built its business without owning a big studio.
