Eight men to stand trial for raping same teenager

A GROUP of eight men accused of raping a teenager in Sheffield over a period of two years will stand trial next year.

They appeared at Sheffield Crown Court for a pre-trial hearing on Monday (4).


Then men have been charged with raping a 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, multiple times between 2010 and 2012.

The defendants have entered not guilty pleas to the charges they face. The trial will begin on January 6 and is scheduled to last six weeks.

Usman Din, 34, of Seaton Crescent, Manor is accused of three counts of rape and one count of trafficking within the United Kingdom

Tony Ejoune, 61, of Sheffield, is charged with one count of rape. Shangar Ibrahimi, 29, of Barnsley, faces one rape charge.

Farhad Mirzae, 29, of Sheffield, is charged with two counts of rape. Kawan Omar Ahmed, 29, of Sheffield, is charged with one count of rape.

Saman Mohammed, 41, of Sheffield, is also charged with one count of rape. Jasim Mohammed, 37, of Sheffield, faces charges of three counts of rape.

Nzar Anwar, 40, also from Sheffield, is charged with one count of rape and one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

A ninth man, Saba Mohammed, is charged with a single offence of perverting the course of justice, also appeared alongside his eight co-defendants.

Judge Michael Slater told the men in the dock: "You will next be required to attend before the court on December 16. Should you fail to do so without a good excuse, a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest."
