Disha Patani roped in for Salman Khan's Bharat

Disha Patani, who is riding high on the success of her recent release Baaghi 2, has bagged one of her career's biggest films. The gorgeous actress has been roped in to play the second female lead in Salman Khan's much-anticipated film, Bharat, which also stars Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. For three-film old Disha, it is indeed a career-changing opportunity.

Revealing what made him sign Patani for the role, director Ali Abbas Zafar says, “The pairing of Salman and Disha in a circus set-up in the ’60s is unusual and exciting. She is a promising star and for this character, we needed a girl who looked vulnerable and beautiful yet had the physicality of an athlete. Disha fit the bill perfectly.”

Disha is on cloud nine after being finalized for the role. She says she is excited and is looking forward to sharing the screen space with megastar Salman Khan for the first time. “I’m excited to be a part of Bharat, it’s like a dream come true to get an opportunity to work with Salman sir and I can’t wait for the journey to begin. I am a big fan of Ali Abbas sir’s work.”

Bharat, which begins its production in July, is the Hindi remake of the South Korean movie Ode To My Father. Salman Khan's sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri and brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri are producing the film in association with Bhushan Kumar's T-Series.

The film is slated to release on Eid 2019.

Chetan Bhagat says fame in Bollywood can take a serious toll on mental health. The bestselling author, whose novels like 3 Idiots and Kai Po Che! became major films, explained that many actors and directors struggle when their work doesn’t succeed. “There are actors who, when going to a restaurant, if they aren’t recognised, don’t enjoy the meal. They wonder, ‘No one came to click photos?’ Can you imagine what a sick life that is?” he said.

Bhagat added that the pressure of attention and constant public scrutiny can worsen insecurity. He recalled seeing stars fade over time, their mental health affected by the highs and lows of fame.
