Deepika Padukone to branch out to production

After the massive success of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed magnum opus Padmaavat (2018) earlier this year, Deepika Padukone was set to join forces with Vishal Bhardwaj for a gangster drama which also starred Irrfan Khan in the lead role.

However, Khan was diagnosed with a serious ailment days before the shoot, which led to the postponement of the project for an indefinite time. Padukone was said to sign no other Hindi project thereafter.

The latest we hear that after waiting for a good half year, Padukone has finally found the script which excited her. If reports are to be believed, she has given her nod to star in filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s forthcoming directorial venture.

Some media outlets also report that apart from playing the female lead, DP will co-produce the film under her home banner. The movie is set to begin production in February, next year.

Besides Bollywood, Padukone is doing the next instalment of Hollywood’s xXx with Vin Diesel.

While no legal proceedings were initiated, the correspondence made clear that Brooklyn did not want direct contact or public references to him from his parents, including on social media.
