Black tea is the new super drink for weight loss

Drinking a cup of black tea may have more health benefits that you realised.

Researchers from UCLA found that black tea can help in weight loss and it also has other health benefits as it changes the bacteria in the gut.

Black tea is said to have prebiotic properties that can help in the growth of good micro-organisms that contribute to a person's well-being. It is also known to strengthen the immune system. Research indicate that black tea balances hormone levels and can help reduce stress.

Although more research is required, some studies suggest that antioxidants like polyphenol and catechins in tea can prevent some types of cancer.

Reports also indicate that drinking more than one cup of black daily helps in preventing ischemic strokes. A 2009 review of nine previously published studies showed that drinking three cups of black or green tea daily can reduce the risk of stroke by 21 percent.

Here are some other benefits of black tea:

Increased Metabolism: Black tea is known to stimulate the metabolism and respiratory system, as well as the heart and the kidneys.

Blood sugar: A study published in 2009 showed that compounds extracted from black tea were more effective at slowing the absorption of blood sugar.

Strengthens bones: Fluorides found in black tea helps to protect teeth and bones.
