Veteran film and television actress Aruna Irani, who is currently seen in Colors’ historical show Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali, has bagged a new soap. The talented actress has been signed on to play an important role in Star Plus’ forthcoming show, titled Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji.
Interestingly, Irani was not the original choice for the character she has been offered. Before she came onboard, the makers had cast award-winning actress Surekha Sikri who is presently basking in the success of her recently released blockbuster film Badhaai Ho (2018).
However, Sikri had to quit the show for reasons best known to her and the role landed in Irani’s lap. “Surekha Sikri had to move out of the project for certain reasons post which Aruna Irani has been roped in,” a well-placed source reveals to an entertainment portal.
Produced by Gul Khan and Nilanjana Purkayasstha, Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji stars Jasmin Bhasin and Ansh Bagri in lead roles. Aruna Irani will play Ansh Bagri’s grandmother on the show. Actor Aru K. Verma, who was seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017), has been signed to play parallel lead.
