Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s loss is Taapsee Pannu’s gain

Performer par excellence Taapsee Pannu has landed a new film and that too by replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Yes, according to reports, the makers of an upcoming untitled cop-drama have decided to go ahead with Taapsee because Aish did not show much interest in the project despite keeping them on hold for months on end.

A report published by an Indian daily says that the makers have briefed Pannu about the project. However, the actress is yet to get a script narration. “The makers have discussed the idea with her. It’s a strong female character, so the producers were looking out for someone with substance to deliver the part. Taapsee is yet to get a proper narration. Only then will she decide whether she wants to do it or not,” a source divulges.

The film will be directed by Shailesh R. Singh. His team of writers has reportedly reworked the script keeping Taapsee in mind. “Shailesh and his team of writers have reworked the script. It’s still a drama, but with humorous undertones. The main characters are two IPS officers who are married to each other.”

We also hear that before zeroing in on Taapsee Pannu, the makers had approached Bhumi Pednekar for the same role, but things did not fall into place.

An official announcement is awaited.
