Kangana Ranaut was shooting Thalaivi before the lockdown was announced. A few days ago, the actress resumed the shooting of the film and wrapped up a schedule in Hyderabad, India.

For her character in the movie, Kangana had gained 20 kgs, and now, the actress is all set to lose weight. Kangana took to Instagram to share a picture from her morning workout and captioned it as, “I had gained 20kgs for Thalaivi, now that we are very close to completing it, need to go back to my earlier size, agility, metabolism and flexibility. Waking up early and going for a jog/walk .... who all are with me ?”

Thalaivi is a biopic on late actor-turned-politician Jayalalithaa. Directed by AL Vijay, the movie was slated to release in June this year but was delayed due to the pandemic.

A few days ago, when Kangana wrapped up a schedule of the film in Hyderabad, the actress had posted on Instagram, “With the blessings of Jaya Ma we completed one more schedule of Thalaivi- the revolutionary leader. After corona many things are different but between action and before cut nothing changes. Thank you team @vishnuinduri @shaaileshrsingh #alvijay.”

The new release date of Thalaivi is not yet announced. There were reports that the makers are in a dilemma due to the climax shoot of the film. The climax of the movie requires more than 300 people on the sets and with current shooting guidelines in India; the makers can’t have so many people on the sets. They are hoping that by November things will be better and they will be able to shoot the climax.

Apart from Thalaivi, Kangana has films like Tejas and Dhaakad in her kitty. The former will start rolling in December this year.

What Britain’s ban on strangulation porn really means and why campaigners say it could backfire

Highlights:

  • Government to criminalise porn that shows strangulation or suffocation during sex.
  • Part of wider plan to fight violence against women and online harm.
  • Tech firms will be forced to block such content or face heavy Ofcom fines.
  • Experts say the ban responds to medical evidence and years of campaigning.

You see it everywhere now. In mainstream pornography, a man’s hands around a woman’s neck. It has become so common that for many, especially the young, it just seems like part of sex, a normal step. The UK government has decided it should not be, and soon, it will be a crime.

The plan is to make possessing or distributing pornographic material that shows sexual strangulation, often called ‘choking’, illegal. This is a specific amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill. Ministers are acting on the back of a stark, independent review. That report found this kind of violence is not just available online, but it is rampant. It has quietly, steadily, become normalised.
