Afghan cricketer Tarakai,29, dies in road accident

Afghanistan top order batsman Najeeb Tarakai has died from injuries following a road accident last week, the country's cricket board said on Tuesday(6).

The 29-year-old was critically injured in the accident on Friday(2), the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said without sharing details.


"ACB ... mourns the heartbreaking & grievous loss of its aggressive opening batsman & a very fine human being..." the board tweeted.

Tarakai made his international debut in the 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and played his only one-day international against Ireland in 2017.

Tarakai scored 32 in his last outing for Mis Ainak Knights in the Shpageeza Cricket League last month.

Queen’s zardozi gown from 1961 India visit displayed in London

AN EVENING gown featuring zardozi work inspired by India’s national flower, the lotus, is among the items on display at one of the UK’s biggest royal exhibitions dedicated to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The gown was designed by Norman Hartnell, Dressmaker to the Queen, for a state dinner hosted by then president Dr Rajendra Prasad in Delhi in January 1961. It is the centrepiece of the ‘Diplomatic Dressing’ section of the ‘Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style’ exhibition.
