Aankhen 2 to start filming this year

Aankhen 2, the second instalment of the 2002 heist thriller film Aankhen, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen in significant roles, is one of the forthcoming sequels audiences have been waiting for with a lot of curiosity.

Though the project has been confirmed by the makers long ago, it has seen zero progress ever since. However, director Anees Bazmee has just confirmed that the second instalment of Aankhen will mount the shooting floor this year. He also added that the movie will have a huge star cast.

“We are starting Aankhen 2 this year and have already done a lot of work on it. We are talking to people about it. It is a huge star cast,” said the filmmaker.

As far as the casting of the film is concerned, several names have cropped up in the past few months. However, apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the makers have not openly talked about any other actor to have been finalized for the high-profile film.

Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee is presently shooting for his upcoming directorial venture Pagalpanti, starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz and Arshad Warsi in prominent roles.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
