13 dead as bus overturns in Pakistan

AT LEAST 13 passengers died and 32 others were injured, several of them critically, after a speeding bus overturned in Sukkur district in Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh on Wednesday (19) night.

Police said the accident took place when the passengers, mostly labourers, of the Karachi-bound bus were asleep. The injured, including women and children, were shifted to hospitals at Sukkur and Pano Aqil.

All the passengers were evacuated from the bus with help from locals, police said on Thursday (20).

Officials said eight of the dead have been identified as residents of Multan and three bodies were handed over to their relatives.
