Vijay Mallya becomes the butt of jokes following reports he's set to get married a third time

Fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya has become the butt of jokes after reports emerged that he's all set to get married a third time. Mallya is expected to wed his long-time girlfriend Pinky Lalwani, reports indicate.

Mallya, who is wanted in India on charges of money laundering and fraud amounting to around Rs 9,000 crores, was previously married to air hostess Sameera Tyabjee and his childhood friend Rekha. He has three children -- son Siddharth and daughters Leanna and Tanya -- from his previous marriages.

According to a report in The Indian Express, Mallya has been dating Lalwani for the past three years. The duo first met when she was hired for his Kingfisher airlines in 2011 and they live together at his mansion in Hertfordshire.

Shortly after reports of Mallya’s third marriage surfaced, netizens took to the social media platform to take jibes. Here are a few gems from Twitter.

Mallya has been in the UK since March 2016, and he has refused summons to return to India. Earlier this week, India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) began attaching the properties of Mallya under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

On Tuesday, Mallya's defence team attempted to dismiss the Indian government's extradition case saying it has no credible case to show that Kingfisher Airlines' borrowings were fraudulent or that Mallya had no intention of paying back the loans he took.
