Shahid Kapoor’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu moves to September

Shahid Kapoor’s hotly anticipated social drama movie Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which also stars Shraddha Kapoor and Yami Gautam in lead roles, has shifted from 31st August to September 14, 2018. The makers announced the new release date on Monday.

The movie, which has been shot extensively in Uttarakhand, revolves around a man who decides to wage a war against power distribution companies for charging exorbitant rates for electricity. The project was wrapped up recently in Mumbai and currently, it is in the post-production stage.


Batti Gul Meter Chalu has been helmed by filmmaker Shree Narayan Singh, who has previously directed the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017).

After the release of Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Singh will direct a film for Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures.

The theatre was packed for the Third Shanghai–London Screen Industry Forum. Between panels and workshops, filmmakers, producers and executives discussed ideas and business cards and it felt more than just a summit. British-Asian filmmakers were meeting and greeting the Chinese industry in an attempt to explore genuine possibilities of working in China’s film market.
