Television star Mohammad Nazim, who rose to fame after playing the character of Ahem Modi in Star Plus' Saath Nibhana Saatitya, is ecstatic after receiving a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, explaining the importance of his Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. Nazim has taken it up on himself to make sure this message reaches all his fans as well.
“Recently, I received a letter from our honourable prime minister Mr Narendra Modi. In the letter, he shared and explained the importance of Swach Bharat Abhiyaan. I am a fitness freak and I know I can be fit only when I have a healthy body and a healthy atmosphere. Whenever I have been overseas, I have noticed this huge difference in the cleanliness of their country and ours. In India, we are way behind. We stay in our house in a very neat and clean environment. But the moment we step out, we are surrounded by garbage. There is plastic lying everywhere. Abroad, when someone takes their pets out for a walk, they clean the pets’ poop. We should be like that as well,” he says.
Ask the actor if he is a cleanliness freak, and he says, “When I was young, I did not have any such habit. But all my sisters would make sure to keep the house clean. Gradually, I also developed this habit. When I shifted to Mumbai, I realised the importance of a cleaner atmosphere. As a celebrity, I know I have a certain social responsibility and we should not run away from this. I was so excited on that day when I received the letter. Now this is my responsibility to make sure this noble dream is made a reality,” he says
