Hume backs Pune title run

CANADIAN striker Iain Hume, who has been signed by Indian Super League club FC Pune

City, believes that the side has the right mix of experienced and young players.

Hume, who is the highest goalscorer in the history of the ISL, has plied his trade with Kerala Blasters and ATK, scoring 28 goals in four seasons.

He has also appeared in 59 ISL games, the highest for any player. “We (Pune) have the

right mix of experience and youth in the side. We should look for a spot in the play-offs

and from there look at going into the finals,” Hume said.

Last season Pune bowed out in the semi-finals when they were beaten by Bengaluru.

Hume added: “Adding myself and couple of other new players, we are hoping that we

can influence the team a little bit. Who knows, maybe we can go a step further than the

semi-finals or maybe more.”

Pune already boasted big names like Emiliano Alfaro and Marcelinho and have added

Hume into their squad.

“To be honest, both of them (Alfaro and Marcelinho) for the last two years, and myself

for four years, score goals and work hard for the team.

“So I think everyone will expect us to keeping scoring goals and win the league, but that isn’t going to be easy.”
