Hrithik Roshan praises actor-producer Sohum Shah for his film Tumbbad

Tumbbad, which is set to hit screens this Friday, is one of the hotly anticipated movies of the year. I agree we did not know much about the film until recently when its trailer swept us off our feet with its sheer brilliance.

Ever since its trailer came out, many Bollywood celebrities have praised it. And today, superstar Hrithik Roshan also took to Twitter to heap praises on actor and producer Sohum Shah who has produced and starred in the flick.

The Agneepath (2012) actor wrote on his Twitter handle, "A boy from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan has made us all proud by making a film like Tumbbad. The trailer is spectacular. This one seems like a must watch. Sohum Shah is someone to watch out for".

Tumbbad offers a perfect blend of fantasy, action, drama and horror. Earlier celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Arjun Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Tiger Shroff have gone ahead to shower their love on the Sohum Shah starrer film.

Tumbbad is an Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions’ presentation. Made under the banner of Sohum Shah Films, the film is co-produced by Filmi Väst and Filmgate Films. It is set to release on 12th October 2018.

TroyBoi returns to his Indian roots with Rootz EP using Lata Mangeshkar’s voice to redefine British diaspora music

Highlights:

  • TroyBoi’s five-track EP Rootz is a personal return to the sounds of his childhood, released via Ultra Records in September 2025.
  • The single Kabhi uses an officially cleared sample of Lata Mangeshkar’s vocal from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.
  • Collaborations with Amrit Maan, Jazzy B and BombayMami plug Punjabi, Bhangra and south-Asian textures directly into modern trap and bass production.
  • This EP is part of a wider wave: British artists born into diasporas are using heritage not as garnish but as foundation.

Some albums hit you in ways you don’t see coming. Rootz is one of them. Not just another trap EP. TroyBoi, the London-born producer known for global bass and trap, has made something that’s also deeply personal. He didn’t just want to make music that bangs in clubs; instead, he wanted to reach back to the India of his childhood. And he did it with Rootz.

The track everyone’s talking about is Kabhi. Because it’s not just sampling Bollywood. Lata Mangeshkar’s voice was officially cleared for use on a non-Bollywood release, a milestone reported by multiple outlets. It’s history. It’s memory. And it’s a bridge.
