The family of Ibraheem Ali, a 19-year-old who was fatally stabbed in south Manchester on January 22, has paid him a heartfelt tribute.

According to a report by the Manchester Evening News, the teen's mother expressed pain over losing her young son and prayed that no mother should experience what she did.


“Ibraheem was the light of my soul. Such a caring soul. A kind of son I wish all mothers to have," she said. "This unexpected loss is difficult to comprehend. I hope and pray no mother has to go through this. My baby boy is no more, I will cherish his memories forever."

The teen was described as a 'loving, caring and kind young man' in a statement which was issued by his mother and family, who have requested privacy as they mourn the personal loss.

“Ibraheem was a beautiful, loving caring and kind young man. Always Smiling, respectful and offering to help others around him. This is a tragic loss that has affected all the community. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.”

Ali was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after the stabbing which took place on Stockport Road, Levenshulme. He later succumbed to his injuries.

On Tuesday (31), Greater Manchester Police issued a statement confirming Ali's death as a result of his injuries and said a murder investigation had been launched over the weekend, the report added.

Earlier, 20-year-old Akbar Kafeel Khan of Hyde Road, Gorton, was charged with attempted murder in connection with the incident, the Manchester Evening News report added. The man was also charged with possession of a bladed item. He was taken to Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on January 25, three days after the incident.

Also a woman, who was arrested in connection to the attack on suspicion of helping the offender, was bailed pending more enquiries.

Following the attack on Ali, section 60 stop-and-search powers were put into place in an area of Levenshulme.
