When it comes to naming some of the finest actors of Indian cinema, no list is complete without mentioning the name of veteran actor Vinod Khanna. In his storied career, which spans across four decades, the talented actor starred in several blockbusters and delivered memorable performances in most of his films.

As every cinephile would know, Vinod Khanna was also a part of Salman Khan’s hit film franchise Dabangg. He played Khan’s father in the first two instalments of the series, Dabangg (2010) and Dabangg 2 (2012). However, after the sudden demise of the seasoned actor on 27th April, 2017, the makers of the franchise have begun the hunt for an actor who could play the role of Salman Khan’s character Chulbul Pandey’s father in Dabangg 3.

Though the makers are tight-lipped about the name of the actor they are planning to rope in for the role, B-town is buzzing with rumours that veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra may step into the shoes of Vinod Khanna and play Salman Khan’s father in the much-awaited third instalment of the franchise.

According to reports, the makers have approached the actor. There is no confirmation on whether Dharmendra has signed the project on the dotted line or not. Considering the close relationship that Salman Khan shares not only with Dharmendra but also the entire Deol family, it should not come as a surprise if he says yes to the film.

Salman Khan is expected to begin the final schedule of Dabangg 3 soon. The third instalment of the superhit franchise is being directed by multi-talented Prabhudeva. The choreographer-turned-filmmaker is known for helming out-and-out masala entertainers like Rowdy Rathore (2012) and R…Rajkumar (2013).  He last worked with Salman Khan on the 2009 film Wanted, which is believed to have revived Salman Khan’s sinking career at that point of time.

Dabangg 3 is set to buzz into cinemas on 20th December, 2019.
