Bollywood films that will face tough competition from World Cup this year

ICC World Cup 2019 started on 30th May. There was a time in Bollywood when filmmakers used to avoid releasing their film during the World Cup as it would affect the box office collection. But, from the past few years, things have changed. During 2015 World Cup movies like Badlapur, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and NH 10 had released and all three turned out to be hit at the box office.

Now this year also there are many big films releasing during the World Cup. So, let’s find out which Bollywood films will face tough competition from the World Cup this year.

Bharat

The first big release during the World Cup is Salman Khan starrer Bharat. The movie releases on 5th June 2019 which is a public holiday in India. But now, on the same day itself, there’s South Africa vs India match. So, let’s if this will affect the first-day collection of the film. This one will surely be Salman Khan’s stardom vs World Cup.

Kabir Singh

Shahid Kapoor starrer Kabir Singh releases on 21st June 2019. The trailer and the songs of the film are being liked by the moviegoers and this one looks like a perfect massy entertainer. On the second day of its release, there’s India vs Afghanistan match. The first weekend is always crucial for a film, it will be interesting to see what happens with Kabir Singh.

Article 15

On 28th June releases Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15. The movie directed by Anubhav Sinha has a hard-hitting subject, but we cannot ignore that the director’s last release Mulk too was an amazing film but unfortunately wasn’t a big hit at the box office. Article 15 would surely need a fantastic word of mouth to survive during the World Cup season.

Super 30

After a lot of delays and controversies revolving around it, Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 is finally slated to release on 12th July 2019. Thankfully, the movie won’t get much affected by the World Cup as there will be semi-final match happening on 11th July and then finals on 14th July. So, the Hrithik starrer will have a good chance to take a flying start at the box office.

Jabariya Jodi

Jabariya Jodi starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra is slated to release on 12th July 2019. It will be clashing with Super 30. It will be interesting to see if the movie will be able to make a mark at the box office or not as on one side there’s World Cup and on the other side there’s Hrithik’s film.
