Amir Khan is building UK's first wedding mall

BOXING superstar Amir Khan is building the UK's first wedding mall in his hometown of Bolton, Greater Manchester, it was announced on Thursday (14).

The 32-year-old has spent £5million refurbishing the venue, which will be a one-stop destination for all wedding needs. The mall will also include a rooftop shisha bar and a number of restaurants, a spokesperson for Khan said.


"Amir is finishing off the wedding hall and we are hoping to have it all complete by August 2020," the spokesperson added.

The mall is expected to give an economic boost to the area, creating around 200 jobs.

Khan is also planning to turn the wasteland at the back of the site into housing.

The spokesperson added: "Amir will see the job through and is overwhelmed by the support of all the local community."

Khan recently took to Instagram to share a series of images of the progress of his mall. He told fans: "All stages of exterior now completed on my Project in Bolton. Interior fit out time.

"This 60.000 sq ft building has Restaurants + cafes, retail units, wedding halls and roof top Shisha lounge and the UK’s First Wedding Mall. Over 200 jobs for locals. Suggestions on names for this building?"

Britain has launched a new taskforce to address the severe gender imbalance in its technology sector, which is costing the economy £2- £3.5 bn each year.

Technology secretary Liz Kendall convened the first meeting of the Women in Tech taskforce on Monday, bringing together leading industry figures to tackle systemic barriers preventing women from entering, staying in, and progressing within tech careers.
