“INSPIRATION is all around us. I believe everything can inspire us in a unique way. If we look at the positives in everything and learn from them, it is easy to call them an inspiration. The top 10 things that inspire me have played a big part in my life and helped me be the person I am today,” said Minreet.
God: We are all children of god. I believe there is one god who looks after us all. Being spiritual and meditating on the name of god has helped me in my journey to remain humble, compassionate and loving towards others. I live every day being grateful and content with what I have and spread the love to others, as we are all one human race. Without the blessings of the almighty, I wouldn’t have achieved what I have in my life.
Life: We have all been given the wonderful gift of life. We should be grateful for every breath we take and use the gift of life to make a positive difference and leave the world in a better place than we found it. Love your life and feel blessed for what you have, as life is very short.
Parents: My parents are my biggest inspiration as they have supported me through everything. I have learned so many of life’s lessons from them. They have taught me how to be a caring, compassionate person, how to love, to never give up and to treat others the way you would want them to treat you. They have also showed me the importance of having faith in god, through their own practical living.
Elderly: Those who have gone before us will always teach us the best lessons, such as how to overcome challenges in life, helping others and spreading love. Their stories of overcoming struggle with a smile on their face are always inspiring. We can learn so much from the elderly because they are full of blessings.
Love: This is the most beautiful quality one can have and share because it inspires us all to become better people. Love pushes us towards selflessness and giving without having the thought of receiving anything back. Love can wipe out hate and help achieve anything. This emotion should be spread all over the world to each and every one.
Happiness: It costs nothing to smile and I love smiling! It is inspirational because every time I see someone smile, it makes me smile even more. If you smile, are happy and positive, it can turn a bad day into a great one. If you share these qualities with others, it could change their entire day. Happiness ultimately gives you inner peace!
Charity: Giving selflessly and unconditionally without expecting anything in return is the best inspiration for me. Seeing others smile makes me feel really happy inside! Helping others is such a blessing and you can make such a positive difference in people’s lives. My passion is charity work and some of the inspirational things I was blessed to take part in include a one-mile swim in a lake, a half-marathon and the Dubai women’s 10-kilometre run in 33 degree heat.
Friends: I feel inspired by my friends who are always out there helping others and doing good deeds. It makes me so happy to see the friends I have are all about living for others and making a difference. This in turn inspires me to want to do more. They are kind, caring and have a lot of love for all, which are brilliant qualities to have.
Sikh Channel TV: The breakfast show I present on Saturday mornings from 9am on Sky Channel 829 for Sikh Channel is filled with inspiration. I’m fortunate enough to interview inspirational guests who are all giving back to the community or doing something that has a positive impact on the world. This makes a huge difference for viewers watching because we all learn from these guests and get inspired by them in different ways.
Henna art: Different forms of creative expression will inspire you. For me, it’s having a professional hobby like doing mehndi (henna tattoos). I do mehndi for charity, corporate events, friends, family and just for fun. I find it therapeutic doing henna and seeing clients happy. It’s nice to try out new designs, think out of the box and be creative. I like to experiment with designs and this inspires me as some people have had henna for the first time.
