The world’s only astro-architect creates harmony and a positive energy in any environment, whether it is a home, office or a film set. She is also a spiritual counsellor and does personal horoscopes to help people, including with an online consultancy service for those around the world. Eastern Eye caught up with Neeta to talk about her fascinating career, secrets to a better life, celebrity work and more...

What first connected you to astrology?

Would you believe it if I said that I was a complete non-believer of occult sciences? I used to see it as mumbo jumbo. But a chance encounter with my guru, the late Dr L N Kusuma, changed the course of my destiny. It was him that predicted some things about my life back then which I thought was impossible considering my circumstances. But they all came true. I was amazed at how a person who knew nothing about my life could predict such specific, incredible things. Intrigued, I began studying under him and the rest is history.

How did you go from a non-believer to a believer?

Childhood experience with astrologers made me a staunch non-believer. Although my faith in the divine was strong, the occult sciences failed to impress me. Probably I didn’t meet the right professionals. But destiny is destiny and meeting Dr Kusuma was a major turning point in my life. The more I studied, the more I saw how much of an impact the planetary positions have on an individual. It completely changed my view about the occult and its significance.

What led you towards founding astro-architecture?

After studying astrology, I studied Vastu and Feng Shui as well. Vastu is the ancient Indian science of architecture and placement, while Feng Shui is ancient Chinese wisdom of the same. When applied, both weren’t giving me 100 per cent results and made me believe there must be something more to the science of house energy.

The question arose in my mind that in a high-rise building, when the layout of all the flats is the same, why do different individuals have different results from it? That is when Dr Kusuma and I started researching the subject, and after studying nearly 30,000 premises, we realised ‘every house has a horoscope’. It is the names of the owners and tenants, along with the direction and dimensions of a space, that creates this energetic pattern or horoscope.

You named the practice astro-architecture, but how would you describe it?

Simply, astro-architecture is a science that balances the energy of a space to that of its master to enhance all the areas of his or her life.

What was the process of discovering that it actually works?

We started discovering its results by practical experience during our research. Then over the years, with more experience and various case studies, I added more elements and solutions to the science.

How does it differ from traditional Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese science of directions and placements that have various schools and masters. Each one had their own theory about this science and a lot of it was influenced by the typography and climatic conditions of the land back then. Astro-architecture has got nothing to do with any of that. It is a science that balances the energetic pattern of a space based on the name, dimensions, directions and nature of the space.

What are the main benefits of astro-architecture?

The biggest benefit of astro-architecture is that its solutions are minimalistic and require simple remedies like plants, mirrors and colours. People don’t realise that the space they live in or work from affects their health, career, money, marriage, childbirth, education, business, peace of mind and almost every area of their lives.

Tell us more...

When I study the energy pattern of any space, I am able to pinpoint which of these areas must be out of balance for the individual or business, and that is how I am able to give predictions as soon as I enter my client’s space.

Accordingly, I am not only able to enhance the overall positivity but also provide specific result-oriented solutions to their challenges in the moment. Other sciences have general solutions and give general results. My science is very specific to my clients needs and the results they desire.

What’s the key to living in a happy healthy space?

The key is to be aware of the space you are residing or working in and the results it has brought in your life. Respect your intuition about the changes you want to make in your space and keep it clutter- free.

Are there any common mistakes people make within their homes?

The most common and dangerous mistake people generally make is placing a mirror in front of another. Such placement is only advisable in very rare cases and not for everyone. The other one is having a drooping plant in the house. If placed in a positive area, it tends to reduce the positivity. Hence you have to know which area to place such a plant.

Also, a general rule is to avoid placing your legs in the south while sleeping.

What advice would you give those who feel like they are stuck in life and not moving forward?

Colours, sound vibrations and fragrances play an important role in enhancing the mood of an individual and helping him or her move forward. Colours like bright yellow and orange help in getting rid of the stuck feeling, whereas sound vibrations can be chanting of a mantra, wind chimes, bells etc.

Tell us about the astrology work you do...

I have learnt and practice the ancient Indian Vedic astrology. Sometimes the energy of the house is very good, but the person might still be faced with challenges and issues. At such times, studying the individual’s personal birth chart gives me an insight to the reason behind the struggle and helps me provide solutions for the same. Both astrology and astro-architecture helps me provide a complete solution package to my clients.

What has it been like working with the various celebrities?

It has been a humbling experience for me. Being a celebrity is definitely an achievement and a well deserved one, but the issues they face are the same as any other household or human being.  But, yes, because they are constantly in the public eye, they have an extra burden on them to be careful with how they conduct themselves.

It’s probably unfair to ask, but which celebrities do you enjoy working with the most?

It’s difficult to compare like that because I have learned a lot from each one. But if I have to choose one, I would definitely put Twinkle Khanna on top of that list. I just love her wit and humour!

When you unburden others of their problems, does that burden you in any way?

Helping people get through with their challenges and do well in life actually fuels me on a daily basis. I feel blessed that I am able to bring positive changes in people’s life.

Have any cases affected you emotionally?

In 33 years I’ve had many cases that I felt deep empathy towards. But one of them I am proud of is that of a lady from a poor background whose only son went to Dubai and was not contacting her for many days. It was very disturbing to see her plight. I improved the child corner in her house and that night he ended up messaging her. I can’t really express the joy it was to hear relief and happiness in her voice.

What would you say to those who don’t believe in practices connected to astrology?

There have been many cases where within a single family there is one believer and the rest are not. Every time, once I start giving my predictions it is the non-believers who start asking more questions because they are amazed by the facts I say.

Even I started as a non-believer and ended up learning and practicing the science. Regardless of whether one believes or not, the planets will influence an individual’s life the way they are meant too. It’s a personal choice whether one wants to be informed about it or not.

What have you learned doing this work?

The biggest lesson I learnt through my work is that money cannot buy happiness. I have been to the richest of the rich and have seen them filled with stress and struggles, while

at the same time I have been to someone from a humble background filled with an unmatched joy for life.

What inspires you?

To be able to connect with people from various walks of life and help them with their challenges inspires me to keep going on.

Why do you love the work you do?

Needless to say, it is because of the feedback and blessings I receive from my clients.

Eurovision in turmoil as Spain Ireland and Netherlands threaten withdrawal over Gaza conflict

Highlights:

  • Spain leads a growing boycott movement, with Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovenia also refusing to participate if Israel competes.
  • The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is in crisis talks, extending its decision deadline to December 2025.
  • The situation draws direct comparisons to Russia’s exclusion in 2022, creating a precedent the EBU must now navigate.
  • The core dilemma pits Eurovision’s non-political ideals against the stark reality of a humanitarian crisis.

The Eurovision Song Contest, that glitter-drenched annual spectacle of pop and unity, is staring into the abyss. The escalating call for a Eurovision boycott over Israel's participation, against the backdrop of the ongoing Gaza conflict, has put the organisers into their most severe political crisis yet. This isn't just about another song entry but a fundamental clash between the contest's cherished apolitical fantasy and the inescapable geopolitics of the real world, threatening to tear the competition apart from within.
