Police investigate claims of racist attack on mother-of-two outside school

A MOTHER-OF-TWO has revealed that she was racially abused in front of her eight-year-old son during a school run.

The 30-year-old said she was called "P*** trash" in an unprovoked verbal attack outside St Bernadette's Catholic Primary School in Yardley, Birmingham.

Police officials have started a hunt for the abuser after the mother showed a video of her accusing the woman of racist remarks.

"I was called P*** trash on numerous occasions," the woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said.

"There were schoolchildren all around. It was sick, not on. I had left my one-year-old child in the car with my friend, she was minding my other son while I picked my eight-year-old up.

"Then, all of a sudden, this woman shouted over: 'You ought to have your children taken off you, P*** trash!'.

"I was told: 'You're not fit to be a mother, you're inadequate.' This was on the Friday last week after school. I said, you can't call me that and she kept replying: 'What else are you, then? What else are you?'"

The woman said another exchange followed five days later and she captured the argument on her phone.

"The days went by at the start of the week and I let Friday go, my husband persuaded me that it wasn't worth going to the police," she added. "It's Ramadan at the moment and he kept saying, don't let this disturb your peace.

"I went to the mosque and prayed for peace as well. Then, on the Wednesday, the same woman spotted me and pointed, shouting: 'Here she is, P*** trash.'"

The following day she reported the incident to the police. After the incident her son reportedly said that he didn't want her to come to school anymore as he feared her head would be chopped off.

"Look at what it did to my son, fearing his mum's going to be killed. My boy didn't want me, his mum, taking him to school, it's heartbreaking."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said they were investigating claims of racist comments.

Flight delays and cancellations hit South and Central Asia amid India–Pakistan tensions

Travellers planning international or domestic journeys are being urged to brace for disruptions, as escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have led to widespread flight cancellations and rerouting across South and Central Asia.

The situation follows a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, two weeks ago, which killed 25 Indian civilians and a tourist from Nepal. In response, India launched a military operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, targeting sites in Pakistan-administered Kashmir on 7 May 2025. As a consequence, air travel in the region has been significantly affected.
