Look Out for These 7 Common Mistakes While Creating YouTube Videos

YouTube’s popularity has encouraged millions of people around the world to create video content and share it on the prominent platform. What has inspired content creators further is the resounding success of certain YouTubers who have made a lot of money from the platform. These days, the world is teeming with aspiring YouTubers, and if you are one of them, this post should help you. Here are all the mistakes that content creators make as they put their YouTube videos together.

#1: Copying the style of a successful YouTuber

While you may be a big fan of a certain YouTuber who has managed to cement his unique style across all his YouTube videos, it does not mean that the same style will work for you. On the contrary, it can harm your YouTube reputation more than it can help.

As successful YouTubers with unique styles have hundreds and thousands and millions of views, along with their loyal and devoted sets of fans, plagiarised content will get found out quite easily on the platform. The worst thing is that the word about your style-copying tendencies will spread, which will not be a good thing for your YouTube channel. So, cultivate your style instead of copying someone else’s.

#2: Making intros that are too long

One thing you must understand about modern-day internet users is that their patience levels are very low. In an age where content is available left, right and center, users won’t think twice before moving on to some other content if your videos take too long to get to the point.

So, always make intros that are crisp and concise using a quality YouTube intro maker. While it may be tempting to create an elaborate intro, the simple truth is that it doesn’t work anymore, especially if you are new to YouTube. Successful YouTubers with millions of followers can get away with making intros as long as they want to because they already have guaranteed viewers. However, the same does not apply to new YouTubers.

#3: Not making older videos relevant

If you have already started your journey as a YouTuber some time back, the chances are that you have a handful of videos on your channel. If you see your newer videos have more user engagement in the form of views, likes, dislikes, or comments, your channel must have earned some subscribers as well. You can use all this information to your advantage by making your older videos relevant.

It’s quite easy to use YouTube cards to tell new viewers and subscribers about your older videos, but it’s quite surprising to see that many YouTubers don’t take advantage of the cards feature. The best thing is that just like you make your older videos relevant, you can also add cards to older videos that direct viewers to newer content which will eventually increase the engagement.

#4: Not uploading enough videos consistently

As YouTube has become a crowded platform with more and more video content creators vying for space, you need to keep uploading videos to stay relevant. If you take a look at the most successful YouTubers, you can see that they upload at least one video every week. While this is not a mistake that is directly related to the making of a video, it is one that can cost you in the long run.

Ideally, when recording, you should record ideas for multiple videos at one go, so that you have enough content on your hands to release videos for at least two or three weeks. A lot of YouTubers make videos like this, and it works!

#5: Using complicated tools and software to create videos

Not all of us are expert video editors, and not all of us know how to use all types of video editing software. However, a lot of people still try to use complicated software and tools to create YouTube videos. Their lack of knowledge makes it difficult for them to navigate through the vast video editing options, and ultimately, it just takes too much time.

Instead of choosing the most complicated video editing tools, it’s recommended to use a simple video maker like InVideo. InVideo, with its plethora of creative templates and effects, makes it very easy for even amateurs to create stunning videos.

#6: Not including brand identity elements in your videos

If you want to make it big on YouTube, you have to treat your channel as a business, and you have to aspire to turn it into a brand. Now, ask yourself, how do businesses make brands out of themselves? It’s simple; they create their respective brand identities. Your channel needs to have its logo with unique fonts, color patterns, and graphics that will be the first thing to attract viewers/customers.

By including your channel’s logo on every video, you can make your channel easily identifiable. On average, channels that use these brand identity elements consistently across their videos do much better on YouTube than channels that don’t.

#7: Overlooking the requirement of the target audience

Another crucial mistake that one must always avoid is overlooking the needs of his/her target audience. It is vital to know that market segregation happens to be one of the intricate aspects of any marketing strategy development.

Studying these aspects would help you to understand the needs and the interests of your target audience. In many instances, corporate organizations often skip these parts to promote their services in the market. But to get profits, you need to communicate with the audience to know their preferences first.

So, now that you know the commonly made mistakes committed by aspiring YouTubers while creating videos are, you can steer clear of them and create stunning videos every time.
