Ali Abbas Zafar all set to direct a trilogy titled Mr. India

When we hear the title Mr. India, the only person that comes to our mind is Anil Kapoor. From the past many years, there have been reports of a sequel to the film. However, after Sridevi’s demise director Shekhar Kapur had stated that he can’t imagine Mr. India without Sridevi.

But now, director Ali Abbas Zafar is all set to take the legacy of Mr. India forward. The filmmaker took to Twitter to inform everyone that along with Zee Studios he will be making a trilogy titled Mr. India. Ali tweeted, “Excited to partner with  @ZeeStudios_ for an epic trilogy #MrIndia! It is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character loved by everyone. Currently, working on the script, no actor has been locked till now.  Once we lock the first draft of the script, casting begins!”

While Ali has clearly stated in his tweet that no actor has been locked, there are already reports of Ranveer Singh and Shah Rukh Khan starring in the film.  It is said that Ranveer will step into the shoes of Anil Kapoor and SRK will portray the iconic character of Mogambo which was played by late legendary actor Amrish Puri.

Well, it will surely be interesting to see which actors will star in Mr. India. The 1987 release has received a cult status. Anil Kapoor, Sridevi, and Amrish Puri were simply fantastic in the film.

This reminds us that when a few years ago, Boney Kapoor was planning a sequel to Mr. India, it was said that Salman Khan is keen to play the role of Mogambo in it. Ali and Salman have worked together earlier in films like Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Bharat. So, we won’t be surprised if Salman is roped in to play the role of Mogambo in the film.
