S.S. Rajamouli ropes in Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt for RRR

After months of speculations, it has been confirmed that Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn are set to star in acclaimed filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli’s upcoming directorial venture, tentatively titled RRR. The multi-starrer features southern superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles.

An announcement regarding Ajay Devgn coming onboard the film, which is set in 1920s pre-independent era, was made at an event in Hyderabad. “Ajay Devgn has agreed to do an important role in the film. He is very excited to be a part of RRR. We are soon to give dates for the shoot,” revealed Rajamouli.


The award-winning filmmaker went on to add, “It is going to be a completely fictional tale about the two real heroes. We are mounting on a large scale. I don’t like anything small and everything will be on a huge scale. There is a lot of research. We also need supporting characters also big. We are happy to have an amazing.”

The filmmaker also clarified that Bhatt and Devgn have been roped in to essay supporting roles, while Charan and NTR will be headlining the cast.

RRR, which marks the Telugu debut of both the Bollywood stars, will hit screens in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam on 30th July 2020.

A survey by Top India, involving more than 1,000 people linked to the entertainment sector, shows many workers are either getting limited work or seeing their salaries drop sharply.

Many people in the survey said payments for available projects have fallen by nearly 50 to 60 percent compared to previous years. The money troubles come as the world deals with tensions and economic uncertainty.

Recent moves for energy savings and tighter spending across sectors have added pressure, with clear effects now showing in Bollywood and television production.
