Prakash Jha announces his next directorial venture

Veteran filmmaker Prakash Jha is returning to direction after a gap of almost two and a half year. He last directed the Priyanka Chopra starrer Jai Gangaajal (2016). His next directorial venture will be a biopic on great mathematician Dr Vashishtha Narayan Singh.

Jha confirmed the project, saying, “Dr Vashishtha Narayan Singh, the brilliant mathematician from Bihar, is our national treasure. His life is so inspiring and I would love to direct a biopic on him."


Apart from calling the shots, Prakash Jha will co-produce the untitled film in association with producer Vinay Sinha.

Talking about the movie, Sinha said that his team has been tracking Singh’s life for many years. “I have been reading about and tracking the life of Vashishtha Narayan Singh since many years. His is a story of tremendous highs and lows and now we are all set to produce a film on him. I couldn't be happier."

Hailing from Bihar, Dr Vashishtha Narayan Singh is known for challenging Einstein’s theory of relativity. Apart from working at NASA, Singh also taught at many prestigious Indian institutions. He suffered schizophrenia after marriage.

The makers are currently busy finalising the star cast for the film.

The theatre was packed for the Third Shanghai–London Screen Industry Forum. Between panels and workshops, filmmakers, producers and executives discussed ideas and business cards and it felt more than just a summit. British-Asian filmmakers were meeting and greeting the Chinese industry in an attempt to explore genuine possibilities of working in China’s film market.
