It’s a wrap for Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak

Deepika Padukone, who impressed us with her performance in last year’s release Padmaavat, is all set to play the role of an acid attack survivor in her upcoming film Chhapaak. The actress took to Instagram to inform her fans that she has wrapped up the shooting of the film.

Deepika shared a picture from the sets and captioned it as, “& it’s a wrap on THE MOST PRECIOUS film of my career...see you all at the movies!? 10.1.2020 #Chhapaak.”

Chhapaak is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, but Deepika’s character in the film has been named as Malti. It was a few months ago when Deepika had shared the first look of the film with her fans. In the first look, Deepika was unrecognizable and looked quite similar to Laxmi. Deepika is not just acting in the film but is also producing it. The movie will mark the actress’ debut as a producer.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak also stars Vikrant Massey. Earlier while talking about Deepika, Meghna had said, “You won’t be seeing Deepika, you know. You will be seeing a disfigured Deepika. There is an uncanny similarity between the survivor and Deepika.”

While talking about Deepika playing her character, Laxmi had earlier said, “I am so happy that Deepika is playing the role. I have no right to judge her. How can I judge someone for something which I can’t do? She has played wonderful characters on screen and I believe she will give her best.”

Chhapaak is slated to release on 10th January 2020. We are sure Deepika will be once again coming up with a great performance on the big screen. However, we are sure her fans would be a bit sad as they won’t get to see their favourite actress on the big screen this year.

The movie will face competition at the box office with Ajay Devgn starrer Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior which also stars Saif Ali Khan. Both the movies are based on inspirational figures, so it will be interesting to see who will win this box office race. But well, we never know, one of them might change the release date of their respective movie. Let’s wait and watch.

  • She quit a secure corporate job and jumped into comedy.
  • Stand-up made her stop being scared of talking to people.
  • People laugh together at the same everyday problems.

Prashasti Singh started her stand-up terrified of speaking in public. “I was very conscious of my language, my pronunciation, my accent. I thought stand-up wouldn’t be my thing,” she says. But her first open mic changed that. “It felt like I was among a bunch of sisters, a bunch of friends. I just forgot all my nervousness. It came out very naturally.”
