Birthday Special: Top five performances of Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor made her debut with 2007 release Saawariya. The film failed to make a mark at the box office, but Sonam’s performance in the film was appreciated. In her career spanning of 12 years, Sonam has starred in many films, but when we talk about her remarkable performance, Neerja is the only film that comes to our mind. But believe us Sonam has proved her mettle as an actress with many films and with every film she surprises us.

Today, as the actress celebrates her 34th birthday, let’s look at the top five performances of her…

Mausam

The Pankaj Kapur directorial starring Shahid Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles was a disaster at the box office. It also didn’t get a positive response from the critics. But Sonam’s performance as Aayat was appreciated a lot. She portrayed the character with a lot of sincerity and made us feel the pain her character was going through in the film. The actress’ performance in Mausam is quite underrated.

Raanjhanaa

From being the girl next door to her transformation to a strong-headed woman, Sonam Kapoor as Zoya nailed it in Raanjhanaa. It was the Aanand L Rai directorial that made people sit back and notice ‘the actress’ Sonam Kapoor. For her performance in the film, Sonam received her first Filmfare Best Actress nomination.

Dolly Ki Doli

When it comes to comedy, we feel the actor doesn’t need to perform much. But well, believe us, the comedy genre is the most difficult genre. In 2015, Sonam starred in Dolly Ki Doli. The actress played the role of a girl who gets married to rich guys and robs them on the first night. Sonam’s performance as the free-spirited Dolly won everyone’s heart.

Neerja

One film that changed Sonam Kapoor’s career graph is Neerja. When the movie was officially announced there were a lot of questions in people’s mind whether Sonam will be able to do justice with the role or not? But with her performance, Sonam proved that she is undoubtedly one of the best actresses we have in Bollywood. As Neerja, Sonam was just perfect and also won a National Award for her performance.

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

At the peak of her career, Sonam took a very big risk by starring in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. The actress played the role of a girl who is a lesbian. Hats off to Sonam for taking up a role that not many mainstream actresses would prefer to do it. Though the film didn’t do well at the box office, Sonam gave an award-winning performance in the movie.
