Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan to reunite for R. Balki’s space film

Bollywood was set to produce a space film Chanda Mama Door Ke, starring Sushant Singh Rajput. However, before the Indian audience could watch the first Bollywood space movie, it turned out that the project was scrapped due to budgetary issues.

From what we hear now, superstar Akshay Kumar has decided to make Bollywood’s first space film. Yes, buzz has it that the actor is going to topline an astronaut movie, which will reunite him with his Heyy Babyy (2007) and Bhool Bhulaiya (2007) co-star Vidya Balan and Airlift (2016) co-star Nimrat Kaur.

After finalizing Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Nimrat Kaur, the makers are now hunting for two more actresses to play pivotal roles in the flick. Apart from playing the male lead, Kumar will also co-produce the film along with R. Balki and Viacom Motion Pictures.

“Yes, Viacom and Balki have come together for a film which will be the first ever Indian movie on astronauts. In fact, the film will be about sending a crew of chosen people to Mars,” a well-placed source reveals.

While the makers are yet to lock the title for the movie, directorial responsibilities have been given to debutant Jagan Shakti. “The said project is yet to be titled, but it will be directed by Jagan Shakti who has earlier been an associate director on films like Pad Man, Holiday, and Akira to name a few,” adds the source.
