Swarnim Neema: Young lord of drama

HINDU mythological television series Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyaag Tandav has been so popular that it has crossed 300 episodes in less than a year.

The Colors TV’s ensemble cast includes gifted child actor Swarnim Neema in the role of Lord Kartikeya. He has delighted audiences with his performance and set himself up for a big future.


Eastern Eye caught up with the young talent to find out more.

What first got you interested in acting?

As I grew up, I started dancing, acting, doing gymnastics, and attending auditions. I developed an interest in these activities and then got selected for good projects.

I have learned every step of the way, including working on Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyaag Tandav. The Shiv Shakti team is wonderful in every aspect. My directors, coactor, crew and everyone else has supported me. The learning has been endless on this amazing journey.

What have been your most memorable moments working on the show?

There have been so many memorable moments, so I can’t really just choose one.

The love I have received from the entire team and audiences has been very special. The wonderful actors playing my parents in the show love me so much and treat me like a son. It is the same for everyone else. They are unbeatable and have turned this show into an unforgettable experience.

 How do you feel being in front of a camera, performing a scene?

I have never had any camera fear, from the beginning of my journey in the industry. This has always been inbuilt in me, from doing many print shoots to working in daily soaps, so nothing is scary for me.

What do your school friends think about you being an actor and TV star?

Everyone encourages me a lot for my acting, and they also feel proud that I am their friend.

How do you balance studying with acting in a TV serial?

School is the backbone of my journey. My headmaster and teachers are all very supportive. They all are so cooperative. I have no words at all for their lovely humble support, especially my dear loving principal ma’am – what she has done for me, I can never explain in words. Her beautiful and kind cooperation has been a blessing for me.

Is it true that you have ambitions to play for the Indian football team when you grow up?

Yes, this is true. I am the biggest sports fan. I love watching cricket and especially football. If I get a chance to be selected for the India national team, it would be my big dream come true. But it all depends on destiny.

Why do you love being an actor?

Becoming an actor has been like a dream. It has given me recognition, popularity, and an identity, but also enabled me to step into exciting new worlds. I get to work with wonderful people and go on new adventures every day. I love it so much and want to do it forever.
