Spin-off to Yeh Hai Mohabbatein put on the backburner

Last year, when news broke out that producer Ekta Kapoor was planning to roll out a spin-off to one of her popular shows, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, fans were really excited about the development. However, it has been close to a year now, but there is no update on the spin-off which has been, reportedly, titled Yeh Hai Chahatein.

The latest we hear that the makers have decided to put it on the backburner for some time. According to some previous reports, Yeh Hai Chahatein was set to replace Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus because the latter had seen a drastic drop in numbers on the TRP chart. However, despite delivering low numbers, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein is still leading in its time slot and hence, the channel and the makers have mutually decided to give it another extension for some more time.

Reportedly, there is another reason also behind Yeh Hai Chahatein getting delayed over and again. The spin-off had been planned as a mature love story with the leads of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein coming onboard to play middle-aged characters in it. But since Karan Patel is rumoured to have signed Colors’ adventure reality show, Khatron Ke Khiladi, and Anita Hassanandani is gearing up to groove on Star Plus’ celebrity dance reality show, Nach Baliye 9, with husband, Rohit Reddy, Yeh Hai Chahatein is bound to take more time to take off.

More details are awaited.
