Singer Arjun Kanungo confirms acting debut

Popular singer Arjun Kanungo, who has to his credit several hit Bollywood songs and singles, is set to take a plunge into acting. Yes, you heard it absolutely right! The young and handsome singer is making his acting debut with an upcoming high-profile Bollywood film, featuring one of the biggest superstars as the male lead. Any guesses?

Well, Arjun took to social media to confirm that he is making his acting debut with megastar Salman Khan’s forthcoming film Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. “First big drop of 2020! You will see me acting in Radhe this Eid!! A huge, huge thank you to the amazing Salman Khan for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. New year, new goals!” wrote the singer on his social media account.

Kanungo is not the first Bollywood singer who has turned to acting. He has just joined the list of other popular singers who turned actors including Lucky Ali, Sonu Nigam, Diljit Dosanjh, and Himesh Reshammiya.

Besides Salman Khan and Arjun Kanungo, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai also stars Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff in significant roles. The project, which was officially announced in October last year, is being shot at Mehboob Studios at a brisk pace.

Well-known choreographer-turned-filmmaker Prabhudheva is directing Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai. It marks his third collaboration with superstar Salman Khan after Wanted (2009) and Dabangg 3 (2019). The film is an official remake of the Korean potboiler The Outlaws (2017). It is scheduled to release on Eid 2020.

Salman Khan has also booked Eid 2021 for his yet another film titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. The upcoming project will be helmed by writer-director Farhad Samji, who made his directorial debut with Housefull 4 (2019). Apart from Salman Khan, the name of no other cast member has been announced.

Two Sinners marks Samir Zaidi’s striking directorial debut

Samir Zaidi, director of 'Two Sinners', emerges as a powerful new voice in Indian film

Indian cinema has a long tradition of discovering new storytellers in unexpected places, and one recent voice that has attracted quiet, steady attention is Samir Zaidi. His debut short film Two Sinners has been travelling across international festivals, earning strong praise for its emotional depth and moral complexity. But what makes Zaidi’s trajectory especially compelling is how organically it has unfolded — grounded not in film school training, but in lived observation, patient apprenticeships and a deep belief in the poetry of everyday life.

Zaidi’s relationship with creativity began well before he ever stepped onto a set. “As a child, I was fascinated by small, fleeting things — the way people spoke, the silences between arguments, the patterns of light on the walls,” he reflects. He didn’t yet have the vocabulary for what he was absorbing, but the instinct was already in place. At 13, he turned to poetry, sensing that the act of shaping emotions into words offered a kind of clarity he couldn’t find elsewhere. “I realised creativity wasn’t something external I had to chase; it was a way of processing the world,” he says. “Whether it was writing or filmmaking, it came from the same impulse: to make sense of what I didn’t fully understand.”
