Rani Mukerji starrer Mardaani 2 locks its antagonist

On 10th December, 2018, Yash Raj Films announced that actress Rani Mukerji, who hit the home run with her last release Hichki (2018), would next headline Mardaani 2, a sequel to her critically and commercially successful film Mardaani (2014), directed by eminent filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar.

The latest update on the much-awaited project is that the makers have now roped in a 21-year-old actor to play the lead antagonist in it. Though YRF is tight-lipped about the new casting, insiders confirm the latest development.

“The makers have zeroed in on a young boy who will take on Rani in this much-awaited sequel. It will be a debut for this boy and everyone tells us that he is a talent to watch out for. If Adi (Aditya Chopra) has chosen him to be pitted against a powerful performer like Rani, one knows he must have definitely impressed the filmmaker. The role requires a menacing, blood-chilling performance and we are excited to find out who this young boy is,” a source close to the development reveals.

To be produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, Mardaani 2 will be directed by debutante Gopi Puthran, who wrote Mardaani.

The movie is scheduled to commence production by the end of the year.
