Priyanka Chopra announces fourth Marathi film Paani

Magnetic star Priyanka Chopra, who is returning to Hindi films with Ali Abbas Zafar's forthcoming film Bharat, co-starring Salman Khan, has announced a new Marathi venture to be made under her production banner, Purple Pebble Pictures. Titled Paani, the film is based on a real story, set in Nagdarwadi village of Maharashtra’s drought-prone Marathwada region.

“There are many stories that reflect the realities of the world we live in and I believe it’s very important to showcase them and bring that message to more people in a way that they can connect with,” Chopra said in the press release.

Paani is one such story and we’re looking forward to working with Adinath,” she added.

Paani marks Priyanka Chopra's fourth Marathi venture. Before this, she has successfully produced three Marathi films, including Ventilator (2016), Kaay Re Rascala (2017), and the upcoming Firebrand.

To be directed by Adinath Kothare, Paani stars an ensemble cast including the likes of Adinath Kothare, Rucha Vaidya, Subodh Bhave, Kishor Kadam, Girish Joshi and Rajit Kapoor. The team started shooting on 10th May.
