Nawazuddin Siddiqui in talks to play cricket coach in 83

Versatile Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has a number of plum projects in his plate, has been approached to play a pivotal part in yet another interesting film.

The actor, whose credits include such blockbusters as Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015) and Mom (2017) to name just a few, is in talks to play a cricket coach in filmmaker Kabir Khan’s next film, 83.

For the uninitiated, Phantom Films’ production 83 chronicles Indian cricket teams’ sweeping victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup against West Indies. The movie was announced last year. Ranveer Singh, who was last seen in Padmaavat (2018) plays Kapil Dev in the movie. Now, Nawaz is expected to join the cast as the coach of the winning team.

However, when director Kabir Khan was contacted to get a confirmation, he chose not to reveal anything at the moment. “It’s too early to comment, so I won’t confirm or deny anything,” he said.

Meanwhile, Siddiqui is currently shooting for his next film Thackeray, which is a biopic on the renowned politician and Shiv Sena supremo, Bal Thackeray. His next release is Genius, directed by Anil Sharma. The actor will also be seen in Netflix series Sacred Games, which starts streaming from 6th July.
