The first half of 2018 has been very good for Bollywood. Uri: The Surgical Strike, Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, Gully Boy, Kesari, Kabir Singh, Bharat, Total Dhamaal and others made a mark at the box office in the first half of 2019. Apart from the box office, most of the films also got thumbs up from the critics as well.
Now as we have entered the second half, let’s look at the list of interesting films to watch out for in the next six months…
Super 30
After having its release date changed multiple times, finally, Super 30 is slated to hit the screens on 12th July 2019. The movie, which is inspired by the life of mathematician Anand Kumar, has Hrithik Roshan in the lead role and it marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Mrunal Thakur. The trailer and the songs of the film have created a good pre-release buzz.
Judgementall Hai Kya

The two starred together in 2014 release Queen which surely gave a boost to the career of both the actors. We can’t wait to watch this one on the big screen.
Khandaani Shafakhana
The trailer of Khandaani Shafakhana has impressed everyone. The best element of the film is that for the first time, we have an actress openly talking about sex and sexual problems. Sonakshi Sinha starrer looks damn interesting and let’s hope that it does well at the box office. The film will be hitting the screens on 2nd August 2019.

Saaho is expected to break box office records just like Prabhas’ last release Baahubali: The Conclusion.
Laal Kaptaan
Saif Ali Khan is not having a great run at the box office from the past couple of years. But this year, he has a very interesting film hitting the screens titled Laal Kaptaan. Saif will be seen playing the role of a Naga Sadhu in the film and the first look of the film had impressed us a lot. It will be hitting the screens on 6th September 2019.
Dream Girl
Ayushmann Khurrana gave a fantastic performance in the recently released film Article 15. The actor has a couple of releases in the second half of 2019 and one of them is Dream Girl. The first look of the film had Ayushmann wearing a saree and it cracked us up. The film also stars Nushrat Bharucha and it will be releasing on 13th September 2019.
YRF’s next with Hrithik and Tiger
Tiger Shroff has always stated that he has been a big fan of Hrithik Roshan. We will get to see both the actors together in YRF’s next. The untitled film will have Tiger and Hrithik pitted against each other, and we are expecting this one to be high on action and dance. Also starring Vaani Kapoor, it is slated to release on 2nd Oct 2019.
The Sky Is Pink
The Sky Is Pink will mark Priyanka Chopra’s comeback in Bollywood after a gap of more than three years. Do we need any other reason to watch the film? Fans of PeeCee, who have been waiting to watch her in a Bollywood film, finally their wait will be over on 11th October 2019. By the way, this might be Zaira Wasim’s last Bollywood film as she has decided to quit acting.
Housefull 4
Housefull, Housefull 2 and Housefull 3, successfully tickled our funny bones. Now the makers are all set to come up with the fourth instalment of the movie Housefull 4. It stars Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Kriti Kharbanda. The film has been in the news because of the sexual harassment allegations against Sajid Khan and Nana Patekar. Both of them decided to leave the film after the allegations against them. We are hoping this one to be a perfect Diwali gift.

Forum brings UK and Chinese film professionals together to explore collaborations.
Emerging British-Asian talent gain mentorship and international exposure.
Small-scale dramas, kids’ shows, and adapting popular formats were the projects everyone was talking about.
Telling stories that feel real to their culture, yet can connect with anyone, is what makes them work worldwide.
Meeting three times a year keeps the UK and China talking, creating opportunities that last beyond one event.
The theatre was packed for the Third Shanghai–London Screen Industry Forum. Between panels and workshops, filmmakers, producers and executives discussed ideas and business cards and it felt more than just a summit. British-Asian filmmakers were meeting and greeting the Chinese industry in an attempt to explore genuine possibilities of working in China’s film market.
UK China film collaborations take off as Third Shanghai London Forum connects British Asian filmmakers with Chinese studios Instagram/ukchinafilm
What makes the forum important for British-Asian filmmakers?
For filmmakers whose films explore identity and belonging, this is a chance to show their work on an international stage, meet Chinese directors, talk co-productions and break cultural walls that normally feel unscalable. “It’s invaluable,” Abid Khan said after a panel, “because you can’t create globally if you don’t talk globally.”
And it’s not just established names. Young filmmakers were all around, pitching ideas and learning on the go. The forum gave them a chance to get noticed with mentoring, workshops, and live pitch sessions.
Which projects are catching international attention?
Micro-dramas are trending. Roy Lu of Linmon International says vertical content for apps is “where it’s at.” They’ve done US, Canada, Australia and next stop, Europe. YouTube is back in focus too, thanks to Rosemary Reed of POW TV Studios. Short attention spans and three-minute hits, she’s ready.
Children’s and sports shows are another hotspot. Jiella Esmat of 8Lions is developing Touch Grass, a football-themed children’s show. The logic is simple: sports and kids content unite families, like global glue.
Then there’s format adaptation. Lu also talked about Nothing But 30, a Chinese series with 7 billion streams. The plan is for an english version in London. Not a straight translation, but a cultural transformation. “‘30’ in London isn’t just words,” Lu says. “It’s a new story.”
Jason Zhang of Stellar Pictures says international audiences respond when culture isn’t just a background prop. Lanterns, flowers, rituals, they’re part of the plot. Cedric Behrel from Trinity CineAsia adds: you need context. Western audiences don’t know Journey to the West, so co-production helps them understand without diluting the story.
Economic sense matters too. Roy Lu stresses: pick your market, make it financially viable. Esmat likens ideal co-productions to a marriage: “Multicultural teams naturally think about what works globally and what doesn’t.”
The UK-China Film Collab’s Future Talent Programme is taking on eight students or recent grads this year. They’re getting the backstage access to international filmmaking that few ever see, including mentorship, festival organising and hands-on experience. Alumni are landing real jobs: accredited festival journalists, Beijing producers, curators at The National Gallery.
Adrian Wootton OBE reminded everyone: “We exist through partnerships, networks, and collaboration.” Yin Xin from Shanghai Media Group noted that tri-annual gathering: London, Shanghai, Hong Kong create an “intensive concentration” of ideas.
Actor-director Zhang Luyi said it best: cultural exchange isn’t telling your story to someone, it’s creating stories together.
The Shanghai-London Screen Industry Forum is no longer just a talking shop. It’s a launchpad, a bridge. And for British-Asian filmmakers and emerging talent, it’s a chance to turn ideas into reality.
