Mission Mangal enters the 200 crore club

Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi starrer Mission Mangal is a blockbuster at the box office. The film released on 15th August 2019 and took a bumper opening. The reviews were positive and the word of mouth was also quite good.

The film, after 29 days of its release, has now entered the 200 crore club at the box office. The total collection of the film till date is Rs 200.16 crore. A fan of Akshay Kumar posted a gif about the film reaching the milestone and Akki replied to him and said, “This is such a lovely creative Bhushan...our film, Mission Mangal just like this jigsaw puzzle came together with every piece fitting in perfectly and with your love & appreciation reached the 200 crores milestone.”


Mission Mangal is based on ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission which was also known as Mangalyaan. The film showcased how scientists in ISRO made an impossible mission possible with their hard work. While the film had Akshay and Vidya in the lead, other actors too had a pivotal role to play and were quite good in their respective roles.

Sonakshi Sinha, who played the role of Eka Gandhi in the film, also took to Instagram to share the news about the film reaching the 200 crore club. She wrote, "It was an honour to play a character which represented a self-made,Independent, modern Indian woman. Eka Gandhi will always remain special. 200 crores for #MissionMangal isn't just a collection, it is an amazing feeling to know that the film has reached out to so many... When I started the foundation in Pune in 1998, I simply wanted to do something useful. My parents and grandparents had raised me to believe that living well meant giving back. I took that seriously. What I did not anticipate was where that conviction would take me.
