Meera Deosthale talks about her new show Vidya

Popular television actress Meera Deosthale, who was last seen in Colors’ long-running show Udaan, is quite excited about her new show Vidya on the same channel. The television series, which premiered on 9th September, stars the actress in the role of an English teacher who does not know the language.

Meera says that her role in Vidya is very different from what she has done so far and hence, she agreed to be a part of it. “The uniqueness about this character is her innocence, the simplicity. And the storyline of the show is the most attractive part of the show because nowadays there are very few shows which have a message, drama as well as entertainment,” she says.

When asked about her preparation for the role, the actress reveals, “Preparation for the role was as such that we used to do a lot of readings. I saw a few movies like Mother India (1957). Basically, the movies which have a girl or a lady with a lot of innocence. And as Vidya is a widow, so I just thought about how would a person like her be and feel.”

Vidya adds that since her last show, Udaan, was also set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh, she did not have to work extra on her lingo. “I really did not have to work on my lingo and dialogues because in my last show Udaan, I was a village girl and it was UP-based. So, I basically, had an idea of how a show with a UP backdrop is like.”

Produced by Mahesh Pandey, Vidya also stars well-known actor Namish Taneja in the lead role. The show airs on 7 PM Monday to Friday only on Colors.
